Our Board

Meet our Board of Directors

Members of the Board represent our community, offering their diverse perspectives and extensive knowledge to ensure the effective governance of the Foundation.

Kathy Tait, President

I have lived in Powell River for over 45 years. I moved to Powell River from Ontario, to pursue a professional figure skating career and then enjoyed a career as a realtor for 25 years. My strong belief in the community, has led me to be involved with various boards throughout the community. Recently retired, I enjoy knitting, gardening, travelling, and have enjoyed raising my three daughters in this wonderful community.

Dave Hodgins, Vice President

Why I am serving the PRCF is very simple. Our son suffered three strokes, none due to life style. Needed services in Powell River are lacking and very limited programs available, mostly due to lack of funding or education of the general public of requirements. We started our own fund in the PRCF to help fund projects. To date we have raised $15,000 to purchase wheelchairs, walkers, allowed the building of wheelchair paths and equipment to aid bed bound seniors.

Tim Wall, Treasurer

I like being a part of a foundation that has created and is growing an endowment fund that has a mandate to donate only a portion of the “earned funds” back to the community which will provide support for generations to come. I also like the principle of supporting positive outcomes and education for the community, community associations, societies and clubs.

Marg Hodgins, Secretary

My family and I have lived here for over 35 years.  Since our son became disabled after a series of strokes, we have been advocating within the City and qRD for improved accessibility for all. Our involvement with the Community Foundation came about when we researched ways for our donations to be channeled to improving the lifestyle of many suffering from mobility and speech issues after an acquired brain injury. “For Good. For Ever”, such a rewarding philosophy!

Shirley Court, Administrator

I feel very fortunate to live in this caring community. I am proud of Powell River and want other families to experience the benefits that life here has given me and mine, for many years to come.

Joan Baker, Public Relations

I moved to Powell River in 1981 to begin my career as a pharmacist. I enjoyed our beautiful outdoors and small, safe community. I met my husband Tom, and we married and raised two boys here. They enjoyed the schools, sports, Powell Lake and the safe community – they played road hockey for hours. I joined the board of the Powell River Community Foundation as a small way to give back to the community.

Meaghan Westie, Director

Dedicated to Powell River, I am a Director at the Community Foundation, aiming to enhance opportunities for locals. Raised here with my family, I cherish our outdoor haven. Professionally, my Real Estate career fosters connections and supports community initiatives. As a Director at the Powell River Hospital Foundation, Sunshine Coast Real Estate Board, and Third Crossing Society, I remain committed to community welfare. Passionate about giving back, I am a proud supporter of the Save Your Skin Foundation.

Rob Lacey, Director

Rob’s passion is to serve others. Born and raised in Powell River Robert has a deep love and connection to the town and the people who reside here. Being a realtor for the last 13 years and connecting with people has sparked a drive to give back to the community he loves. A husband and a father of three boys, Robert wants to further grow the community into a vibrant, caring and welcoming place for all.

Susan Auchterlonie, PRCF board member

Susan Auchterlonie, Director

Susan moved to Powell River in 2018 from the Comox Valley, where she was born and raised. She worked in the post-secondary system in both Alberta and British Columbia for 25+ years, including 11 years at North Island College where she was responsible for Community Relations and the NIC Foundation. Prior to her retirement in 2023, she was the Executive Director of the Comox Valley Community Foundation, where she worked with donors and supporters to grow the Foundation’s endowment fund and granted in excess of $750,000 annually to Comox Valley charities. She is excited to volunteer with the Powell River Community Foundation and to use her experience to work with the community to support the incredible work of this region’s charitable and for-impact organizations. When not volunteering, Susan enjoys travelling, gardening, walking her dog, and supporting her amazing adult children.
